Inexpensive Improvements for Any Bathroom

Bathrooms, along with kitchens, are the most requested upgrades that Garden State Renovations gets called on renovate or reconstruct. However, there are easier ways to upgrade for those on a budget.

 1) Look to get rid of that old-fashioned pebble glass shower or bath door. What we like to offer is the “euro style” shower doors that have rollers on top, which glide more easily and look sensational.

 2) Assuming your bath has tile half way up the walls and to the ceiling it would generally involve a full demo of the bath to change the tile. If your tile goes halfway up, try adding a border insert on top of the tile along the perimeter of the bathroom walls. In addition, if there is room around the tub area, what we like to do is to frame the sides of the tub with 1x2’s and cement board, then we tile the frame to give your tub a dropped in look which eliminates the plain view from the side of the tub.

 3) Think of changing an old surface medicine cabinet for one recessed or a mirror with a nice frame.

 4) If you’re handy with plumbing, consider changing your old sink faucet and shower/tub fixtures. Even adding a rain spray showerhead will enhance your shower experience. Consider matching the fixtures with a towel bar, robe hook and toilet tissue holder.

5) If your bath has a window add some curtains, if there are no windows and your bath is on the second floor consider adding a sonotube skylight. These are relatively inexpensive, just a few hundred dollars. A qualified handyman or roofer could install it without a fuss.

6) Last but not least, repaint wherever there are bare walls. Go ahead and pick a daring color and then accent it with some artwork.
