However, the kitchen was completely outdated. Built in the 60s, previous owners had not renovated it at all so the design was ancient and the cabinets were in terrible condition! Day 1 and the kitchen demolition is done! I'm back here today after completing day 1 of my dream kitchen renovation. It was a challenging demo because, believe it or not, we had to unearth 3 layers of linoleum underneath the tile floor. So you never know what obstacles you'll encounter when demoing a kitchen. This is why working with a licensed, experienced contractor is key to keeping costs low and staying on track with the timeline and your budget.

It's renovation day 3 here at my kitchen fixer upper in Long Branch, NJ. We're doing a full kitchen makeover, a renovation project that will take about 3 weeks to complete. In this video series, I will take you through the kitchen renovation process step-by-step so you know what to expect of your dream kitchen renovation with my company, Garden State Renovations. We're still in the early phases of the remodel project. After demo day our handy electrician finished the rough wiring. Then, we updated plumbing pipes and drains. We insulated the walls with with proper R values to have the maximum insulation in the remodeled kitchen.We also installed damp resistant green board instead of regular sheetrock. Finally, we put the first coat of spackle. For flooring, we'll be removing the top subfloor and we'll add Durock cement as a base for the tile.
