Newest Trends in Bathroom Design
The other day I was reading a book on mindfulness meditation when it struck me that the last six months of my client’s bathroom renovations were probably influenced by the fact that they wished to incorporate therapy and wellness into a “spa” or meditative retreat in their bathroom.
For plumbing I installed multiple shower body sprays with rain shower heads.
I put in a custom shower head that alternately sprays a lavender/jasmine oil based spray that blends into the shower steam. For accessories, fixtures and lighting I installed Euro style roller shower doors, or in one case no shower door at all… I also put in place Teak benches, stand alone soaking tubs, floating vanities and creative mood lighting such as multi choice color LED dim lighting and mirrors with built in LED lights. This is a minimalist approach that eliminates vanity lights. We’ve also seen a resurgence of heated tiled floors and heated towel bars. It’s never fun walking out of a hot shower onto a cold floor and being greeted by a chilly towel.
Tile still remains a subjective choice relegated to the homeowner or designer. However, we’re seeing whites and neutrals with some big pops of color on vanities, cabinets and accent tile.
The larger the bathroom the more creativity can be applied to transforming your space into your own private spa retreat.
Please contact me to talk about incorporating some of these applications into your next bathroom remodel.
Until next time,
