Music Studio Makeover

When I first stepped into the space that my client envisioned as their future music studio, I could immediately see the hidden potential. As a contractor and a musician with a passion for music, I was ready to take on the challenge.

The project began with soundproofing. The room had to be isolated from outside noise. To achieve this, I started with the basics – covering the walls with acoustic foam. This created an immediate impact, absorbing unwanted echoes and reverberations.

The floor was next. By choosing a dense carpet, our team managed to add another layer of soundproofing, quite literally from the ground up.

As for lighting, we moved beyond the traditional and installed mood lighting with various colors. This feature allowed the artists to adjust the ambiance to match their vibe.

The client was going to have musicians over a lot so having multiple outlets for all the instruments was very important. From synthesizers, computers, PA systems, mixing consoles, and amplifiers, every piece of equipment needed its own source of power, and we made sure there were plenty of outlets.

In a corner of the studio, we installed a smartboard so the musicians could write down lyrics and chords. On another wall we installed a large mirror to give the sense of a larger space.

One of the highlights of the studio makeover was building a riser for the drum sets. Elevating the drums not only optimized the sound distribution within the studio but also gave the drummer a rightful place of prominence.

Every choice, from the carpeted floors to the mood lighting, from the foam-covered walls to the strategically placed outlets, was made with the musician's journey in mind. The new music studio was a beautiful space ready to welcome enthusiastic artists.
